As part of our offering to help clients manage their design risk through pragmatic and Innovative process safety, we supported a large distilled spirits client manage their ATEX risks through their design process to help minimise zoned areas.
The client handles thousands of casks in palletised and traditional style operations carrying out disgorging, filling and vatting operations.
Due to the materials handled this includes flammable spirit products as well as combustible dust by products.
By taking a pragmatic approach to re-zoning existing areas as well as suggesting improvements to minimise zones, we were able to help the client fit in new project installations, within the ATEX constraints of some of the equipment being supplied.
By engaging our HAC services early in the design process, we are able to save clients significant costs, rather than waiting until further down the process when equipment selections might need to change.
